COCKTAIL RECIPE: THE SCURVY STOPPER
"Old Grog" was the officer who put water in sailors’ rum rations. The Scurvy Stopper is a *new* grog—spicy, sweet, and sour!
Ingredients
2 oz. Unsinkable Bourbon
¾ oz. honey syrup (or just some honey!)
¾ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
¾ oz. fresh lime juice
2 oz. soda water
Method:
Combine the first four ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds to chill.
Strain into a chilled Collins glass and fill with crushed ice.
Top with soda water and stir once gently to combine.
Garnish with a healthy bouquet of mint and a reusable straw.
Honey Syrup (Yield: ½ qt.)
Ingredients
1 cup honey
½ cup water
Method:
Combine the honey and water in a medium-sized pot.
Bring to a simmer and stir until the water and honey are fully incorporated.
Remove from the heat, allow to cool, and keep refrigerated to store.
