COCKTAIL RECIPE: DOCTOR’s ORDERS
Tackle Scurvy head on with a Doctor’s Orders. This gimlet honors the naval doctor who suggested adding lime to sailors gin rations. His name, we swear, was Dr. Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette.
Ingredients
2 oz. SLC Marin Coastal Gin
1 oz. lime cordial (or just some lime juice and agave syrup!)
Method
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass.
Add ice and stir for 10–15 seconds to chill.
Strain into a chilled coupe.
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim of the coupe.
Lime Cordial (Yield: ½ qt.)
Ingredients
1 cups sugar
3/4 cups fresh lime juice
8 ea. limes, zested
¼ cup coconut water
1 g fresh ginger, grated
Method:
Combine the lime juice and sugar in a medium-sized pot.
Bring to a simmer and stir until the lime juice and sugar are fully incorporated.
Add lime zest, coconut water, and ginger and simmer for 5–10 minutes, until fragrant.
Remove from the heat, strain, allow to cool, and keep refrigerated to store.
