Unsinkable Bourbon Blackberry Punch

FOR WHEN THE TRICK-OR-TREATERS DRAW NEAR (AND OTHER TIMES TOO)

This one is a Autumn / Scary Season special to fortify yourself against the hordes of trick-or-treaters that will wash up against your front door. 

This recipe makes four drinks, but you might want to scale it up for a crowd.

INGREDIENTS FOR FOUR COCKTAILS

6 oz. Sausalito Liquor Co. Unsinkable Bourbon

2 oz. Amaro of Choice (Cynar? Averna? Nonino?  Something brown and mysterious.)

3 oz. Blackberry-Ginger-Rosemary Simple Syrup (see below)

8 oz. Pomegranate Juice

 

INGREDIENTS FOR BLACKBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP

2 cups Blackberries

1 cup Sugar

1 ½ cups Water

1 hearty knob of Ginger (smashed up or grated or chopped)

2 sprigs Fresh Rosemary

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1.       To make the Blackberry-Ginger-Rosemary Syrup – add the blackberries, sugar, water, ginger, and rosemary sprigs to a sturdy pot.  Bring to a simmer.  Simmer for 10 minutes.  Smush. Let cool. Strain it to a clean container.

2.       To make the Unsinkable Bourbon Blackberry Punch – add bourbon, amaro, blackberry syrup, and pomegranate juice to a mixing vessel.  Stir to combine.  Pour four equal portions out into your favorite glassware filled to the brim with fresh ice. 

If you’re going to be at this for a while, maybe top with some freshly cracked La Croix.

That’s literally it. Just sip it now.
