BE THE RYE WHISKEY COCKTAIL YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD

It’s been a harrowing day.  You know those days.  Sometimes the only antidote for that kind of day is a comfortable armchair and a couple of beefy fingers of brown liquor.  Just to steady the proverbial heaving of the seas of life.  Just to Dremel off the edges scraped rough by the seething daily rituals, the monotonies, the usuals.

But this drink also works great on yet another sunny afternoon out on the dock, right before the first tendrils of fog creep over yonder hillsides, looking out over the Bay. Is that person on the SUP in the distance seriously nude or is it just a poorly chosen wetsuit color?  No matter.

Ingredients and Process

2 1/4 oz. Sausalito Liquor Co. Unsinkable Rye

3/4 oz. Carpano Antica sweet vermouth

3-4 dashes King Floyd’s aromatic bitters

We don’t have to be fussy about anything.  But we do kind of low-key insist that you don’t shake your Cruising Club Manhattan.  I mean, really.

Assemble all liquids in a stern-looking mixing glass or cocktail shaker.  Bury in the coldest ice you have ready access to.  Stir precisely 23 times clockwise to pay all due respect to Michael Jordan.

Strain this bad boy into the leak-proof vessel of your choosing.  We like it over a boulder of ice, but you might like it up.  We don’t care – we like you either way.  Put a couple of Luxardo cherries in it, if you want.  It’s fine, we do.
